「ワールドカップは売り物ではない」——UEFA55協会、FIFA大会ボイコットを表明

On July 30, 2026, UEFA held an emergency meeting with all 55 member associations.

2026年7月30日、UEFA(欧州サッカー連盟)は加盟55協会全てを集めた緊急会合を開いた。

The reason was a plan by FIFA president Gianni Infantino: to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors, led by U.S. venture capitalist Joshua Kushner.

きっかけは、FIFA会長ジャンニ・インファンティーノが打ち出した計画——ワールドカップの株式を、米国のベンチャー投資家ジョシュア・クシュナー率いる民間投資家に売却するというものだった。

Infantino had given FIFA's 211 member nations until September 19 to approve it.

Within hours, CONCACAF — the confederation of the United States, Canada and Mexico, hosts of the 2026 World Cup — held its own urgent meeting.

その数時間後、2026年ワールドカップの開催国である米国・カナダ・メキシコが加盟するCONCACAF(北中米カリブ海サッカー連盟)も独自の緊急会合を開いた。

«The membership expressed deep concerns about the lack of due process surrounding the proposal, the artificially short deadline imposed, and the absence of any review or approval by the relevant FIFA governance bodies,» CONCACAF said.

CONCACAFは「加盟協会は、この提案をめぐる正当な手続きの欠如、不自然に短い期限設定、そしてFIFAの関連統治機関による審査・承認の不在に、深い懸念を表明した」と述べた。

The U.S. Soccer Federation added that it «stands with Concacaf and its members.»

England's Football Association also backed UEFA's stance.
