Every summer, head coach Michael Carrick sits down with the reporters who cover the club.

This year, the questions were about one thing: transfers.

United have spent about £85 million this summer on Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

That is far less than what other Premier League title contenders like Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea have paid for their new signings.

In fact, United have never paid more than £89.5 million for a single player — the fee for Paul Pogba back in 2016.

"Money's money, I get that.

"It's still about the football, and that's where the competition lies.

There was also good news at the training camp this week: Marcus Rashford returned to the group.

今週の合宿では、もうひとつ明るい話題があった。マーカス・ラッシュフォードがチームに合流したのだ。

The 28-year-old forward spent last season on loan at Barcelona, but the Spanish club decided not to make the move permanent.

28歳のFWは昨シーズン、バルセロナにレンタル移籍していたが、同クラブは完全移籍にするオプションを行使しなかった。

His long-term future at Old Trafford is still uncertain.

"He's our player, and he's a good player, and he gives us something a little bit different in the group.

"Marcus can offer us so much.

When asked whether this United side could finally challenge for the Premier League title, Carrick did not shy away.

"We've definitely got the potential to achieve something really special.

"I'm not hiding from the fact, and we should aim to do that, but I can't give you a definite answer on that.

"It's certainly what we're pushing to do because we have to, because that's the club we are.
